What's old is new...

What’s old is new, what goes around comes around, everything old is new again….

However you want to word it, there’s no denying the fact that macrame, the super-trend from the ‘70’s and ‘80’s, is back and better than ever!

As children of the ‘70’s and ‘80’s, Kim and I each have fond memories of making or watching our moms make these awesome creations. Made with cotton roping and a series of twists and turns and knots, it’s amazing what a spool of rope can turn into!

Here at 2 Chix, we’ve decided to launch our own mini-collection of macrame plant hangers. Handmade with 100% cotton roping, these macrame hangers add a whimsical bohemian look, while maintaining a classic style that never ages.

Sold as either a small, single, or double, these plant hangers can accommodate most small to medium bowls or planters and can be hung from any wall or ceiling.

Resolutions for your home...

I don’t know about you, but something about taking down my Christmas tree gives me the urge to redo my whole house. Maybe it’s the empty space it leaves behind, or the way I move some things around to make a space for it. But every January, I go through the same proces:

Take down the tree, vow to make some changes, want to change it all, get overwhelmed, do nothing.

This year, I happen to have a lot of big projects I want to tackle. My son is ready for an upgrade from little kid room to big kid room; my floors are old and tired and ready to be replaced; my living room is ready for a refresh; and I still can’t seem to nail down exactly how I want my dining room. On top of those, I’m ready to do some smaller bedroom doors, a barn door for my pantry, and what am I gonna put on that big empty wall in my bedroom?

With so many choices out there, it can be pretty overwhelming. How much new stuff vs old stuff do I want? Wood or painted? Light or dark? Size, scale, texture, lions and tigers and bears, oh my!!

Luckily for me, my work spouse happens to have one of the best eyes for design of anyone I know! This year, I really don’t have any excuses. So when I’m indecisive about my floors...weathered wood or dark??...I just ask Kim. When I’m torn between a couch and loveseat or a couch and two chairs (I wish all problems were this simple)...Kim and I talk it out.

Even though I know what I like and what I want, sometimes it’s just nice to have a guiding hand through these things.

Too many times, we have that one room, or wall, or space...that we don’t know what to do with so we end up doing nothing! Or we just use something we don’t really like with the plans to replace it with something we love. Then life happens, and ten years later you’re still walking by that ugly painting every day.

But not this year! Often times, it doesn’t take much to change the look and feel of your room. With 2 Chix and a Barn’s Design in a Day service, you can get some help and a guiding hand with any of your new year’s projects. We can work within your budget and with your style to help you fine tune your home. Let this be the year you resolve to make your home your favorite place to be!

It's all in the details...

It’s all in the details…

Sometimes when you’ve been living in your house for a while, you start to overlook all those spaces you swore you’d get to one day. Maybe it’s that long hallway you don’t know how to decorate. Or an entryway that isn’t functioning right for you. It could be a small space that needs more style, or a large space that needs to be filled out.

Over and over while doing a show, customers will say, “I love this but I just don’t know how to make it work in my space.” Or the most common one, “I wish you could just come to my house and make it look like this!” Well, now we can! Beginning this month, we’re launching our new Design in a Day service.

Here at 2 Chix, Kim and I always say how lucky we are to get along so well and work together so seamlessly. We’re able to boost each other’s strengths and fill in the gaps of each other’s flaws. Not a day goes by that we don’t acknowledge our gratitude for having found such a harmonious partnership. And while we each do a little bit of everything, the one thing that is all Kim’s, is the design and vision behind everything 2 Chix.

Kim truly has a gift when it comes to decorating. Whether it’s in her own house, or putting together a booth for a show, or working on a client’s house, I never cease to be amazed at the way she brings it all together.

Since I’m more of a linear, big picture thinker, I can usually follow along to see where she may be headed with a space. But in the end, the finished product is always more amazing than I’ve ever imagined. With Kim being more of an abstract yet detail oriented thinker, she really makes the magic come alive in the details. There’s something about the way she finishes a space that always makes it just right.

With our new Design in a Day service, we want to use Kim’s talent to help you work out the details. Your home is such a personal space and should be a true reflection of its owners. All too often, we meet people living in a space they aren’t in love with. Or in a home that doesn’t work for their living needs. Your home can and should be both livable and should be your favorite place to be!!

Where We've Been...

Show season is officially over, and now comes the time of year when the Chix slow down a bit. Although we always say Summer and Winter are our slow seasons, those months somehow end up as busy and hectic as any other. 2016 has been pretty good to us; with a slew of successful shows, and now the re-launch of our beautiful new website, these Chix are some happy campers.

In case we haven’t seen you, here are some highlights of what we’ve been up to…

We kicked off the first of this year’s Country Living Fairs in Nashville. Despite a very rainy start, the show was amazing! You folks down in Nashville sure are nice. We loved meeting all of you and hearing about your homes and how you will use your 2 Chix products!

After that, we had the Lucketts Spring Market in Leesburg. This show started with a beautiful Friday which turned into an incredibly rainy Saturday. You know what we learned about doing a show in the rain? Nothing will stop a serious shopper! The rain didn’t keep you away; everyone just donned their rain boots and got to shopping.

In June we had the Country Living Fair in Rhinebeck. This year we ended up with a double booth since we were selling RePurpose Paint and Stain for Cari Cucksey. She’s usually at the show herself, but a 9-month pregnant belly kept her home this year.

Despite pictures to the contrary, we didn’t spend the whole Summer lounging by the pool. Between stocking up on product for the fall shows, and working on back end stuff for the new website, we were some pretty busy Chix.

September ushered in a new wave of shows. We headed out to Ohio for our third Country Living Fair of the year, welcomed by beautiful weather and friendly faces. One of the great things about doing the same shows each year is getting to know and catch up with fellow vendors as well as customers. You often think we won’t remember you, but we do! And we always love seeing the way you use your 2 Chix treasures.

As soon as we got back from Ohio, we had just enough time to repack Pearl and head up to The Vintage Bazaar in Massachusetts. By then we were mostly running on adrenaline, but had one of our favorite weekends of the year! Devon runs a great show, and since this is a somewhat local show that we’ve done multiple times, we’ve gotten to know a lot of the customers who come through. We also brought our favorite barn dog, Teddy, to her first show!

So now here we are...launching our beautiful new website, getting ready for the holidays, and adding some exciting new services...we can't wait to share it all with you!!
